The Wall Motif : The Walls are Screaming for Joy

Successful interior design is not just about creating one or two focal points within a space but the ability to inject interest into a scheme through pattern, texture and colour. Albeit a key to this is within the final selection of furniture pieces and accessories however too many of us rely on this to save our laziness when it comes to the blank canvas we start with. What we as home owners, stylist and designers need to do is strip back the layers of clutter and focus on the beginnings our walls and floors which are SCREAMING for attention.

It is not the place of a wall to be forgotten or masked over in block colours. However expensive, wallpapering isn't the only option if you are on a budget. Creative and innovative approaches to the areas we overlook have formed a new interest in the money friendly wall stencil. Not only reserved for cheap and tacky children's play centres the stencil with the recession is making a fast come back giving the eager DIY enthusiast and interior buff creative control of their environment. Whether in concentrated areas such as light wells and door panels, or to create dynamic and bespoke wall designs, ready made options are abundantly available however creating your own is just as easy. Below are some playful and alternative examples where a little bit of texture pattern and colour can transform a space.
